Wednesday Wants 29/06/11...

*This is a scheduled post - I'm away for a few days in Cornwall! I will reply to comments once I return :)*

How fab is this artwork by Kim-Anh Nguyen?

I absolutely adore skulls and love tattoos :)

I loved a skull print that was on her page a while ago (black background and white print) and hope it becomes available again! It would look awesome with a gold frame :)

I will definitely be purchasing some prints once I get paid!

NOTD 27/06/11

*This is a scheduled post - I'm away for a few days in Cornwall! I will reply to comments once I return :)*

I recently went in to TJ Hughes to pick up a couple of things and had a quick nosey at their beauty items and picked up this nail polish.

It was under £2, and I loved the colour (I had my hair this colour for 5 years!) so couldn't resist!
The nail polish is Rimmel Pro in shade Fancy Fucshia (295)
The brush design is absolutely perfect - you just need one stroke and that is all.

The polish lasted for a really long time, without chipping or flaking!

It's a staple colour of mine now, I mainly use it on my toenails as I can't wear nail polish for work.

I would definitely buy this again! :)

Quick Update...

Hello :)

Sorry I have been AWOL for the past few days... I've managed to get a cold (yep, in June!) so have been tucked up in bed for the past few days feeling sorry for myself!

Some of you may have seen on twitter (you can follow me here!) I have been looking into getting contacts.

I went into town today as I had a lens assessment (which I'd got quite excited about!).

The optician put the lens's in for me the first time and then I had to come back half an hour later to learn how to take them out and put them in myself.

I didn't have any trouble with my left eye. My right eye on the other hand, was a total nightmare!

I spent about 15/20 minutes poking about trying to get the lens out. The lady showing me how was helping and advising. She was showing me all kinds of methods but I just couldn't get it out!

My eye was a red bloodshot watering mess :(

To cut a long story short... The contact lens wasn't even in my eye! The optician had to come through and look and there was no blinkin lens!! Argh!

I've got to go back on Monday morning for another go, so fingers crossed it will be better this time!!

I'm going home to Cornwall on Monday for a few days with Mr Pinklittlebean and then the following week will be going down to London to meet a friend so will be doing a few scheduled posts over the next couple of weeks :)

In other news... Glossybox? Who got their June one? What did you think?

It was my first box and I have to say I was slightly disappointed, mainly by the email I received upping the price!

I will do a mini review at some point in the next few weeks.

Right, ramblings over! I'm going to be doing separate post about a giveaway in a moment :)

05 – A day in the life, photographs taken throughout your day.
I've completely neglected this challenge - I think because I was a bit stumped with this one as a photographic diary of my day would be pretty dull TBH!
But, I decided to get it out of the way and do it today as I have the day off (not that it would be any more exciting than any other day, it just means I can move on to the next day of this challenge!!)
And so my day begins...
Breakfast! I've switched to soya milk recently as I keep getting a cough after I have breakfast and think it's from the milk. I actually quite like the soya milk too :)
A load of my eBay listings finished on Sunday so I had to parcel them all up and send them...
Lunch... I did have two crumpets but I ate one before I remembered to take a photo!
I picked up these in town after spotting them the other day...

Oh how I wish they did whole packs of the Rhubarb & Custard Splats! I was a little disappointed as there were only 3 in my packet!

My brother is a Strawbs fiend, so I bought him these. He described them as "epic" ;)
Close up of the yummy Rhubarb & Custard Splat!
I spent the afternoon doing lots of things from my "to do" list and searching for something small and therefore turning the whole flat upside-down... I did find it after several hours!

I also did a bit of a sort out of birthday cards and presents (and wrapping!), as I have quite a few friends and family with birthdays coming up so thought I'd get organised!

I couldn't resist buying this birthday card in Paperchase - I love it!

I bought the wrapping paper when I was in Hong Kong a couple of years ago :)
My general diet went downhill after breakfast! I had pizza for tea (I was a bit disappointed as it didn't taste as nice as usual - not sure if it's because I've got a sore throat maybe) and a can of Coconut Water.

I am literally obsessed with the stuff! It's been on offer at 3 for £1 in Tesco, so every time I go in our local small one I buy 9 cans at a time and clear the shelf...

I think I have a problem ;)

A couple of OOTD's 19/06/11

I thought I would do a couple of OOTD's as I did one today and found one I'd not uploaded from a couple of weeks ago!

I bought a tripod from Amazon (under a tenner!) after reading some tips in the #bbloggers chat on twitter (8pm GMT on a Sunday!) about taking OOTD pics without another pair of hands!

If you are on twitter, you can follow me here :)

I guess the difference in quality of pictures demonstrates how useful it is! :)

Top 5 Beauty Items - June ♥

Hooray, it's the weekend! :)

So, I did this feature for the first time last month and have been getting quite excited about doing it again!

I've got quite a few products I've been trying out too, so we'll see if they make next months list!

Onwards with this months!

My June Top 5!
Tangle Teezer

If you know me in real life, you will know that my hair changes quite often. I year or two ago, after having short hair for most of my life, I tried to grow it. It took forever and I didn't keep it long for any great amount of time.

While I did have it long, I did discover that it got damaged easier (or maybe as there was more of it, I noticed it more!). I came across the Tangle Teezer after reading about it in magazines and decided to try it out.

I have to say, believe the hype!

I use it now when I get out of the shower and it just makes dangling your hair so much easier! They is hardly any hair on the brush as it doesn't rip it out like some do!

It's quite pricey at around £10, but you can get it on Amazon and eBay for cheaper if you look around.

As it's made of plastic, it's very durable and will last (probably!) forever as it is moulded as one whole brush, so no chance of the bristles falling out or anything like that!
Boots Botanics Soothing Eye Make Up Remover

I have finally found what I would regard as the best eye make up remover!

Having tried most products, I wipe, rub and even scrub my eyes to get rid of my mascara and no matter what (even if it looks like all traces have gone!) I wake up in the morning looking like a sleepy panda :(

I'd read other reviews of it which seemed positive, I thought I would give it a go. Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on skincare, as they often do, so it seemed like a good opportunity (note: the 3 for 2 offer is still on!). It is normally priced at £3.05 a bottle.

The bottle looks pretty as it has two parts to the liquid which separate. You give the bottle a good shake and they combine.

The eye make up remover really does do the trick! For the first morning ever, I woke up with clean eyes!

The product is slightly oily, but quite light at the same time. It quickly absorbs into your skin, leaving no residue. The product also doesn't sting your eyes or make you feel like you have double vision/have gone blind - which is always a bonus!

I will definitely be sticking to this - I'm so happy I tried it out!

I have suffered from bad skin/acne since I was about 11 years old. I'm now 26 and although my skin is noway as bad as it was when I was in my teens, I do still get spots which is quite depressing as I hoped I would grow out of them!

During my teens I was prescribed all kinds of medication, including anti-biotics, lotions and potions. It was a bit trial and error (mostly error unfortunately) but the one thing that did give me results was the PanOxyl.

I stopped using it for several years and then rediscovered it recently.

You only need to use a tiny amount and it dries up spots/helps them heal and shrinks open pores. I use it on my chin and nose mainly, once or twice a week. It definitely improves my skin.

There is a slightly negative side to using it, you have to be VERY careful with the product. It contains benzoyl peroxide, which can bleach things (when I lived at home I ruined ALL of my bedding and my Mums towels!) so you need to wait until it's fully dried and wash your hands thoroughly. I only use it at night too as you can't really wear make up over it very easily.

It can also burn your skin/dry it out. I avoid using it everyday to stop this.

You can buy PanOxyl over the counter in pharmacies (eg Boots) for about £4. I would recommend using the 2.5 strength as anything higher can leave you looking like you have radiation burns (I experienced this when I was prescribed it!)

Apart from that, it is a fab product. I have tried just about every product available to combat spots and this really does help!

As you may have read in my May Top 5 Beauty Items post that I have started using the LUSH I Love Juicy shampoo. Since using the product, I have stopped using conditioner after every wash.

I have started using this product once or twice a week, to give my hair a little treat and condition!

The conditioner smells absolutely gorgeous - a bit like Amaretto. Yum!

It makes my hair nice and soft and doesn't weigh it down. It also quite light so doesn't make it greasy, which good! You only need to use a tiny blob too so the bottle will last a while!

The product is also paraben free, no artificial colours or synthetic fragrances and is 88% organic content. The bottle is also made of 50% post consumer recycled material.

It is quite pricey, at around £10. I bought it in TK Maxx for under £5.

I don't have much in the way of eyebrows. I'm not really sure what happened when it came to my eyebrows - I have dark hair but naturally thin and very light brows.

For the past 8 years or so I have used eyebrow pencils, but as my Mum has commented, they make me look like an old lady :-S I know they don't look very natural and I wanted to find something that did.

About 6 months ago I tried threading for the first time and if you haven't yet had your brows threaded, I would thoroughly recommend it.

The lady who did mine somehow managed to create eyebrows with shape and definition out of essentially, nothing!

Since having them done, I thought I'd try something different to colour/fill them in and came across the ELF Cosmetics eyebrow kit.

The kit has a powder and wax to help define your brows. The brow kit actually makes my eyebrows look natural and dark as the powder clings to the hairs and fills while the wax gives them shape.

I won't be going back to my granny pencil ;)

The kit cost £3.50, so is very good value and will last for a long time!

Snacking - Pick of the Day 04/06/11

So I thought as one of my (probably) favourite pastimes is eating/snacking, I'd do a feature about it ;)

I always have a little something in my bag to nibble on and take a little bag of goodies into work with me to munch on.

About a year ago, my family went to Istanbul for a holiday and on one of the first days we were out, I started to feel a bit funny and my brother started to get a bit irritable... My Mum then produced some snacks out of her bag. Mr Pinklittlebean had come with us and stood in disbelief!

"You are both in your twenties and your Mum carries around snacks in her bag like you are a pair of toddlers!"

And he was right! I think we both must get big dips in our blood sugar if we don't eat regularly.

My brother hit the nail on the head the other night when we went for a meal with our parents.

Jack: "I'm HANGRY"

Us: "You're what?!"

Jack: "I'm HANGRY! Hungry and angry!!"

Us: "Ohh!"

Anyway, that all aside! I thought I would introduce one of my newest, favourite snacks!

Bear Granola Nibbles

So far I have tried 2 out of the 3 Granola Nibble Varieties (Tropical Crunch is next on my list!)

They are described as a delicious blend of whole grains and
fruit baked into crunchy granola nibbles.

Apple Crumble

Whats inside?
whole grain oats & maize
baked apples pieces (9%)
coconut
cinnamon
apple, grape and carob extract
absolutely nothing else.

Cocoa Cherry Pie

What’s inside?
whole grain oats & maize
cherry pieces (9%)
(cherries & apple puree)
coconut, nibbed cocoa beans (6%)
apple, grape and carob extract
absolutely nothing else.

The Apple Crumble was crunchy and cinnamonny (if that can be used as a descriptive term ;)) I liked the pieces of dried apple too. It would be a yummy addition to your muesli or porridge!

The Cocoa Cherry Pie was delicious! It tasted of dark chocolate and had a lovely crunch to it. The dried cherry was a brilliant combination with the granola.

I love both of the granola nibbles but at a push I'd say the Cocoa Cherry Pie was my favourite.

Both varieties satisfied my sweet tooth and were actually filling (which I find a lot of "snacks" aren't!) and at 98 calories a packet, they are perfect for those who are trying to watch what they eat :)

The Granola nibbles are also high in fibre and count as one of your three a day whole grains. A final bonus is that both the snacks are suitable for vegans :)

You can buy these online on the Bear website or in certain supermarkets! (I bought mine in Waitrose!)

Bear are also on Twitter and are very lovely to tweet!!

Can anyone recommend any other (healthy!) snacks for me? :)
