OOTD 19/08/11

Tonight I went along to the Lush Xmas recruitment evening... I have a trial shift next week! Yay! :)

I've not been home long and I'm covered in glitter heh.

This is what I wore!
Star Print Shirt with Peter Pan Collar: H! by Henry Holland
Skinny Black Trousers: Topshop "Leigh" via eBay
Blue suede look pumps: Primark (I bought these recently for £4 and they are super comfy!)
Close up detail of the H! by Henry Holland star print shirt and my Dogeared skull necklace :)
 Rings!
Close up of the house ring!
 Close up of Primark pumps!

:)

UPDATE: I realise I never actually said about the outcome of my trial shift! I ended up working for Lush for a few weeks but unfortunately due to having another job (who weren't exactly... flexible?) I had to leave as I couldn't commit to certain shifts - boo! :( I had a lovely few weeks there!

#BrumBloggersMeet July 2011!

I'm a little bit late on the update stakes but here's my post about the #Brumbloggersmeet :)

So, a few weeks back, as some of you have probably already read(!) it was the #BrumBloggersMeet which was organised by the fabulous Claire and Fritha!
I was a bit nervous about actually going as I'm pretty new to blogging but thought I would go for it, so bought my tickets as soon as I said yes, so there was no going back! :)
I arrived a little bit early so I was there in plenty of time and had a little wander. I then went to meet the girls in Starbucks!

The girls were super organised and had got some name stickers on hand! This was brilliant as I'm absolutely useless at remembering names! :-/

We stayed there for a little while and had a chat before moving onto some photo taking and shopping!

A group of us headed to Forever 21 first, I got a bit sidetracked by pretty things in there so spent ages looking at stuff! I'm a bit of a solo shopper as it happens! (i.e. when I shop, I'm on a bit of a mission!)
Some more of the lovely ladies!
We had food at Red Peppers in the Mailbox, which was delish! There was a fab selection of food and the staff were brilliant at accommodating us all! :)

I'd looked at the menu the night before and thought I'd go for the veggie enchiladas... On the train to Birmingham I picked up a Mexican bean wrap and as I was tucking in I had that total food planning fail moment so decided against double helpings of Mexican food and decided on a... Margarita pizza.

Yes, I have the food taste of a 5 year old. I was happy with my choice but the waiter managed to twist my arm into having something a little more adventurous so I went for a Margarita pizza with rocket and Parmesan. Yep, more cheese. I love cheese.
As you can see from the picture above of us all outside of the Bullring, we were all given some mysterious yellow bags from sponsors that the girls had organised for us... Here is what was inside of them!

They caused quite a commotion in Birmingham that day as there were 20 of us walking about with them so people were asking where we were from! They were very good for locating the group!

We were absolutely spoilt! When I got home my brother thought I had gone a bit mad shopping! It was a bit like Christmas! Thank you so much Claire & Fritha for sorting it out and thank you to all of the lovely companies for giving us the gorgeous goodies! :)
The lovely goodies from Max C London!
Pretty Max C vest for the Summer! :)
Crown & Glory went through the trouble of seeing who was attending the meet-up and gave us something that reflected what we like... They were spot on with my beautiful pin badges! I LOVE cake!! :D
John Richard Jewellery gave us some beautiful jewellery!
Selina brought along some fab Motel Goodies! I couldn't wait to try out the Models Own nail polish! :)
I love the t-shirt, it's such a nice fit :)
Sara brought us some gorgeous goodies from Missguided! I instantly fell in love with the skull scarf! I love the colour! Fritha put hers on straight away as a head scarf and it looked awesome! :)
After dinner, we were allowed to choose an item from a bag of clothing that Clothing at Tesco had generously donated. I chose this gorgeous dress. I've got a few weddings coming up and can't wait to wear it at one! :)

Thank you so much again to Claire and Fritha for organising the meet up and for sorting out all of the goodies and surprises. And thank you to all the companies for giving us the goodies! :) It was just brilliant! :)

It was lovely to meet everyone and I had such a nice day! The only thing I was a bit gutted about was that I didn't get to speak to everyone there! :( (and that I didn't stay for the night out!!!)

Fingers crossed there will be a re-union, can't wait to see you all again! :)

LOOK's Blogging Competition Entry!

A little bit of background...
I graduated from University 5 years ago, with a degree in Events management.
I got quite poorly after University and ended up losing interest in almost all the things I once loved... Music, going to gigs, meeting friends, days out, taking photos, going to festivals...
I just stopped doing them.
Over time, I got better and I’m slowly getting back into things.
I started my blog as a means of being creative and also a way of documenting what I’ve been up to. The blog has given me a bit of direction and I have found something that I enjoy doing and look forward to doing. I love sharing what I have been up to and reviewing or recommending things.
When I was at college and university, I was never without my camera. Even before digital cameras, I would always have a disposable camera at hand to click away!
The blog has given me something so I remember to take photos when I’m out, from food I’m about to eat for my dinner to outfits of the day. Even if I don’t use the photos, I’m reverting back to my old “snap happy” self again :)
The one thing that I never lost interest in was fashion. Without sounding cheesy, it is one of the things I still treasured. I still enjoyed looking through magazines to see what people were wearing, perusing the shops on a Saturday and seeing what bargains I could get on eBay!
I would love to be in the front row at The Look Show AW11 at Westfield Stratford City as not only does it include one of my favourite things fashion, I would not just love to write about the show (and snap away!) I would also love to see the show from an event perspective!
I would absolutely adore to eventually work in Fashion Events. I feel that this would be a fantastic opportunity to see what happens.
I am fairly new to blogging, having started my blog in April. I almost feel “not worthy” of winning the competition, but I hope that you might give me the chance to go for it :)
It has given me the confidence I was perhaps lacking previously, about self belief - just going for things and not worrying what other people think.
I’m not going to say that I’m any kind of fashion guru, but I know what I like! :)
I’m also quite partial to cheese (not sure if that’ll sway your decision, but it’s worth a go!) :)

Magners Cider Specials Review

I hope that you are all safe and haven't been affected by the riots that have been going on. I can't express how sad it makes me feel. I can't begin to imagine what some people are going through.

It makes me happy to see people posting pictures of positive things that have been happening in the aftermath, be it people making policemen cups of tea, donating things to people who have lost their homes or helping clear up the mess that has been left.

It restores faith in humanity :)

Apologies once more for going AWOL, I've been pretty busy this past week with work and other mundane things...

After work the other night I was feeling a bit frazzled so thought I'd treat myself to a bottle of something nice...

I had a look in the booze ailse and came across these two in the cider section!
I actually love cider, so didn't hesitate to pop them in my basket!
Magners Specials
Spiced Apple and Rhubarb

This has a gorgeous, spiced taste - almost like mulled wine with a slight sharpness afterwards from the rhubarb along with the sweetness too. I would like to try it again warm to see if it worked... It's very yummy and I'd recommend it!
Magners Specials
Pear and Ginger

This one tasted more of ginger than pear, in a pleasant way! You did still taste pear but it wasn't quite as strong as some pear ciders. It was quite similar to some of the alcoholic ginger beers.

I think out of the two, the rhubarb was my favourite! Having said that, I would buy both again! :)
