Alex James Presents Harvest 2011

NOTE: V PICTURE HEAVY!

A couple of weekends ago, My Mum, Brother and I headed down to Oxfordshire to spend the weekend at Harvest Festival.

There were 3 guys dressed like this just cycling round :)
Yummy wrap! I loved all the food I tried at the festival, it made quite a change from the usual festival "offerings"!
Teenage Cancer Trust had a tent with all kinds of awesome pics of musicians with food.

They had a book for sale in aid of TCT and it looked brilliant.

Ah, Henderson's! :)
These guys were fun to watch!
The ice cream wasn't actually that nice :( not sure what's going on with my face. Think I might have been marvelling at the fact I looked like a giant!
The "landlord" :)
My new favourite shoes :) (look how clean they are! Doesn't seem quite right at a festival really does it?!)
Gilles Peterson was pretty good but was on at about 4.30 in the afternoon which seemed a bit weird from a programming point of view!?
Our poor Mum had to put us with us all weekend :D
Fat Freddy's Drop, who are quite brilliant. If you haven't heard anything by them, check them out. My favourite song is called "Wandering Eye" which I kept calling "Whispering Eye" accidentally as I'm a bit of a retard.
Wicker Man!
The detail on the "wicker man" was awesome!
I genuinely thought that this was Marco Pierre White... It isn't. It's Jay Rayner. He's very funny.
I loved the name of this stall... And the fact that it was pie and mash was a winner too :)
The Kooks!

I had a fab weekend!

There was quite a bit going on either on the main stage with bands or on the other stage which had "foody stuff" going on. We alternated between the two.

There was definitely a different crowd to what you might find at say Glastonbury (we did actually see David Cameron and his wife walking round, which made me laugh) but it was a nice, chilled atmosphere which was good.

The selection of food was brilliant, and even better if you eat meat (which I don't) - I think my brother thought he'd died and gone to heaven!! He kept going back to the hog roast stall. I really enjoyed my halloumi, bean and butternut squash pie from "Mash Up" :) There was also a fab selection of booze available too :)

I think my favourite things were seeing Fat Freddy's Drop and watching Jay Rayner.

It was the first year it had been held at Alex James's so I think there were a few teething problems, but we really enjoyed ourselves!

Mum had got us on guest list for it luckily, I think the tickets were just over £100 otherwise.

Oh, one thing very important thing I forgot to mention... The toilets were SO clean (seriously)!! :)

Mini Update...

Hello! :)

Hope that you are all well!

I'm currently in the process of writing up a few new blog posts but thought I'd give you a mini update...

I've been quite busy over the past couple of weeks.

I went to Harvest Festival last weekend which was fab (food and music, possibly my two favourite things combined!) and this weekend just gone I went to Missies Pudding Club, which was equally as awesome! I will be posting about these separately! :)

I met up with some other bloggers based in Sheffield/Leeds for cocktails at the Wick at Both Ends in Sheffield (probably one of my favourite bars here!).

I met Alice, Claire, Emily, Emma, Lil and Steph - they are all lovely and hopefully we'll meet up again soon! :)

It was one of my friends from works babys Naming Ceremony on Saturday which was really sweet.

I have applied to do Come Dine With Me and had a telephone interview for it last week! The details are then passed over to the producers for them to have a look at. I'm not sure that they'll choose me as I'm probably not interesting enough but it was quite exciting to get the phone call!

A bit of naff news was that I had to leave my second job at Lush as I couldn't fit both jobs in/clashing rota's. I was working 6 days a week doing both too :( I'm a bit sad about it but I'm sure something else will come up!

I did however, get some brilliant news that my Mum is finally moving up to Sheffield! It's all definitely happening now so I'm over the moon :)

Yesterday, I finally had my remaining 3 wisdom teeth removed...

I thought I was having 1 maybe 2 out and then going back for a separate appointment but the dentist at the hospital said they could do them all in one go as it should be pretty simple.

Long story short, it wasn't! 8 injections (I had to have them done under local anaesthetic - urgh!) and 1 hour 45 minutes later, they were all finally out!

I'm feeling pretty awful today and thought I'd share a picture with you of my ridiculous face! :)
Popeye much??

Music! What's your favourite music to get ready for a night out?

So, last night I was thinking to myself (as I was sit at home, doing nothing!) what kind of music do people like to listen to when they're getting ready for a night out?

My taste in music is quite varied and probably quite questionable at best!

I was a total pop punk/ska kid when I was at college.

When I moved up to Sheffield for Uni, I started working at the Leadmill the week I arrived. I moved up a week early so I could see Alkaline Trio play...

The Leadmill opened my eyes to other music, especially indie! Going to nights like Tuesday Club got me into drum n bass and dubstep...

I'll do a separate post about what kind of music I like but for the moment, here are three of my favourite songs to put on when I'm getting ready...

I love the song but actually LOVE this video too, it makes me want to dance... And maybe take up skipping!

I just like this song...

This song reminds me of when I first moved up to Sheffield as my cousin used to play it...

What do you like to put on? :)

Trip to London to see Pulp

So, I've been AWOL, once again!

I've had a few days off from my first job but have started my first week in my second job at Lush!

Mid-week, I booked some time off to go down to London with Mr Pinklittlebean to see Pulp at Brixton Academy!

I've seen Jarvis Cocker randomly a couple of times, once at Brixton Academy 10 years ago in the crowd at an Eels gig and the other time was a few years ago in Sheffield at the O2 Academy opening night. He was stood behind us (he did a dj set later on) and I was too shy to ask to have my picture with him...!
As I had a couple of days off, I went down earlier in the day to make the most of the mini trip to London! I didn't have any lunch as I was saving myself for this bad boy!

I've got the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook and had seen the cheesecake brownie recipe in there. I made the trip to the shop in Soho and it was well worth it! (I'm also glad I didn't have any lunch as this nearly finished me off!!)
I did a bit of window shopping around Covent Garden (and had my compulsory trip to Cyber Candy to pick up a few goodies!!) and Carnaby Street. I also oggled over all the lovely things in the Vivienne Westwood Shop on Conduit Street :)

I had a giftcard for Wagamama so popped in there for my tea before I met Mr Pinklittlebean at St Pancras. I actually love veggie gyoza and got a kids portion of noodles as I didn't think I'd manage an adults portion after my big lunch!
Ticket! :) Managed to have my chewing gum confiscated! Was getting a little worried that they would also take my Cyber Candy stash off me (Willy Wonka Nerds and Cherry Jolly Ranchers, plus some presents!) I think if they had I would have just stood there and eaten them all :P
Outside - I love it when they have the sign up of who's playing!
I LOVED the lighting. I also loved the lazers at the beginning... Would you like to see a dolphin?
 I love Jarvis.

I thought that they were absolutely fantastic, I'm so glad we made the trip to go! I had forgotten how many songs of theirs I like! Fingers crossed they'll actually play a show in Sheffield! :)
I went home a little later the following day so decided to have a trip to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs! :)
I think this was a giant sloth dinosaur thing. It looked pretty awesome.
I did have a complete fail moment as I hadn't charged my ipod... I'd usually just have it in so I'm in my own little world... Unfortunately I had to join the "real world" and listen to all the blimmin children whining and wailing. Not so fun but I enjoyed the museum! :)

Here's a little bit of Pulp that I filmed, not amazing quality, but enjoy Jarvis (and his dancing!) :)
