OOTD & FOTD 30/10/11 - Sheffield Fright Night 2011 & Halloween

Last night, we went along to Fright Night in Sheffield.

If you've not been before, it's a really nice night out - and brilliant for people watching!

I hadn't actually given a lot of thought into dressing up, so this is what I wore...
I got the dress last week in the market near me, not specifically for Halloween, mainly because I love skulls!
Mum dug my old Jack Skellington bag out of the loft - he's about 10 years old so a bit sad looking!
I also salvaged my trusty old purple DM's! I got them second hand when I was about 11 or 12, so they're a good 14 years old! (And still super comfy!)
The skull ring is from H! Henry Holland at Debenhams, the black oval ring is from Primark and the cross is from eBay.
I went for some subtle Halloween make-up! I was looking on YouTube at some of the amazing tutorials that people have done, but had left it all a bit last minute to be trying things out!

Eyebrows: I drew my eyebrows on with a Bourjois Black Liner Feutre Felt Eyeliner
Eyes: I used the purple shade from the Sleek Original palette, I lined my eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Lust, I then lined my eyelid and drew some flicks with Barry M Glitter Liquid Eyeliner in shade 3 (silver) and dusted my lids and my cheekbones with Barry M Fine Glitter Dust in shade 9 (an iridescent shade) and stuck little stars on with eyelash glue.
Lips: Urban Decay Lipstick in Vinyl

More detail...
Side view!
My Mum made a bit more effort than me at dressing up!
We had some glow sticks but one managed to split so we splattered her lab coat with it!
Glow in the dark!
This was in town at Fright Night! Yep, it's a man riding a hippo! :)
Dancing Skellies outside of the Crucible!
People queueing up for Sing-a-long Rocky Horror at the Lyceum - everyone had put a lot of effort into their get-ups! :)
One of the crazy rides in town... There was such a massive queue of people waiting to go on! I'm far too much of a wimp to go on any!
My brother and his girlfriend were monkeys... My camera wasn't quite quick enough to take a picture of him walking round on his hands outside of City Hall!
I think he was made for this outfit!! :P

Happy Halloween 2011!!

Happy Halloween!

I had my first attempt at carving a pumpkin last night and came up with this!
 I love skulls!
 The full effect!
In Mum's house!

What are you up to for Halloween? :)

OOTD & FOTD 28/10/11 - Wedding

On Friday night I went along to my friends Anna & Stef's lovely wedding reception. I had a fab time (apart from Mr Pinklittlebean not being able to make it due to work and the prospect of work at 8am for me the following morning!) and it was nice to see all of my friends together!

I thought I'd show you what I wore...
My tea dress is from the F&F clothing range at Tesco. I liked it as it wasn't too summery and covered me up! It was very comfy too! :)
Purple bag with heart clasp detail by Romwe.

I was lucky enough to win $50 to spend on the Romwe website at the Brum Bloggers Meet. I bought this bag and a clip on collar that I'm sure I will show at some point soon! My bag arrived this week so I thought I'd use it almost immediately!

Blogger Meet-Ups!

So, after a mini break from blogging, I've got quite a bit of catching up to do!

One thing I need to sort out in particular is buying train tickets/getting organised for a couple of blogger meet-ups which are happening in November!

First up is the Leeds blogger meet up on the 12th November which is being organised by Ray and Tor which I'm planning on going along to but not sure whether to stay for the evening yet!

And secondly is the Birmingham November blogger meet up which is happening on either the 19th or the 26th of November. Emma has posted some information about it on her blog here.

I'll be attending if it is the weekend of the 26th November!

You may have read my post about the Brum Bloggers Meet that I attended in July... It was a whole lot of fun and I hope I can make the next one!! (And if I can make it, I will definitely stay for the evening!)

Is anyone else going to either of these? Are there others that you are attending? :)

Missies Pudding Club - September 2011

Hello! :)

Big apologies for going MIA for a couple of weeks. I had a few things I needed to concentrate on in "real life" as it were so took a little break!

But, I am back! And have plenty to be writing about! :)

So, last month I was lucky enough to get my mitts on a ticket for Missies Pudding Club, hosted by the lovely Cindy!

Boy, am I glad I did!

For those of you who aren't familiar with the concept, it's basically a sweet-tooths (like me) idea of a dream! You get to try a selection of puddings (and no-one tells you off if you didn't eat all of your dinner!) and have a chat about them!

The fabulous looking ticket, designed by Cindy!

The event was held upstairs at the Rutland pub (in Sheffield). I got myself half a pint and shimmied upstairs to be greeted by Cindy, who is absolutely lovely.

I'd spoken to her quite a bit on twitter but it was the first time I'd met her in "real life" which was really cool! It's funny how you can speak to people on regular basis, having never met them!

I sat down on a table with a couple of other ladies, who are also members of the same WI as me (but I'd not spoken to them before) so that was also really nice!

We were given a taster of jam on scones, which had been made with plums from Cindys garden and it was rather tasty!
Right, so onto the nitty gritty! The puddings!

The first pudding we were served was a Bread & Butter Pudding with homemade marmalade and Jack Daniels (made by Kayleigh Degg).

Up until then, I had never actually tried bread and butter pudding as there was something about it that just... Didn't appeal to me? But! How I regret it, I have missed out on 26 years of deliciousness!

The pud was amazing! It had the right amount of tart/tang from the marmalade to go with the sweetness of the dessert. I couldn't actually taste the JD, which is possibly a good thing as I'm not a big fan. Out of the 5 puddings, this was my overall favourite and I am now a convert!
The second pudding we tried was an amazing combination of flavours! (And an amazing sized portion too! Don't worry, I didn't scoff it all - I had a doggy bag!)

This was a Beetroot & Chocolate Cheesecake on a PJ Taste coconut biscuit base made by PJ Taste (who have a little coffee shop in Sheffield if you are ever in the area!).

The combination sounds possibly peculiar but it worked and it was yummy! I liked that it was a baked cheesecake too. The coconut base had a ginger flavour to it too. You did get the hint of beetroot, but it was pleasant (not, urgh, beetroot cheesecake!).

I shared the piece I took home with my brother and one of his friends and they both enjoyed it and wished they'd come so they could have eaten a whole piece!
The third of the puds was a classic!

A Sticky Toffee Pudding made by Rutland Arms.

I really enjoyed this too (can you see a theme here?) I liked the fact that the sauce was separate so I could mop it up with the sponge cake myself!

It was at this point I went and ordered a cup of tea as I think it went better with the following puddings!
The forth offering was something a little unusual to what some people may be used to pudding wise!

It was a Red Bean Sweet Dessert with Peanut Mochi made by Missie Cindz herself!

It had been hinted that we might be getting a little surprise like this and I was over the moon when it came out!

I went to Hong Kong a couple of years ago and tried lots of different desserts/drinks/sweets including a few sweet red bean ones. I really like them, I think it's perhaps the western perception or maybe expectation that beans are going to be savoury, but it really is quite yummy!

This was very tasty, the beans were just the right sweetness and the mochi was a lovely treat with it (I LOVE mochi!!), the peanut inside was delish!
Finally, the last pudding was very deceiptful! It looked like we were getting a teeny portion, but we did have a disclaimer to say it would be enough! (and to be honest, I don't think I had a lot of room left!!)

This was a Rum Truffle Torte made by Annie Parmee.

It was very tasty and very, very rich! I managed about a forkful and I was done! I loved the crushed amaretti biscuit crushed on the top. The torte would work brilliantly just made into truffles too!

My brother ate the rest of it and said he really enjoyed it.

I had such a fab time during the event, it was great to meet some lovely new people and finally meet Cindy, as well as eat delicious food! :)
