OOTD 28/10/12

Tonight I'm going out for a meal at the Wick at Both Ends for Keri's birthday (you can read her blog here!) This is what I'm wearing...
Thermal Tights(!): Primark
Black Biker Boots: Miss Selfridge
I thought the print of the playsuit was quite appropriate with it nearly being Halloween and that... Brrrains!
I had a similar pair of boots which I wore to death. So glad I managed to find a near identical replacement pair!
Token skull jewellery...!

A Weekend in Amsterdam

A couple of weekends ago, my Mum and I went away to Amsterdam for a long weekend. I thought I'd show you a few things we saw and did...
We got the ferry from Hull...
Pretty sky as we were leaving...
These were our err... beds for the night!
Buffet dinner on the ferry. I have the eating habits of a 5 year old.
The magnificent train station building!
We stayed in the Novotel. I loved that there was a little message on the TV when we arrived (easily pleased!) the staff at the Novotel were so helpful and friendly. The room was great too.
Panoramic view of the canal!
One of the first things we did when we arrived was do a boat trip. It's a great way to see the city and spot things that you might not see whilst walking. It's also a good way to get your bearings too!
We had bought a ticket for travel and a Amsterdam key card from the tourist info place which saved us money/got you in free to certain attractions including certain boat trips. I'd definitely recommend getting one if you were planning on cramming a lot in.
One of the first places we visited was the Anne Frank House. If you get the opportunity to go, do it. It's an extremely harrowing experience. It really is hard to imagine being in that situation.
This was my favourite piece of street art I saw.
Dam Square.
Andy Warhol's The Last Supper in Pink. I loved where it was being displayed (De Nieuwe Kerk). It was a pretty incredible building!
The name of this eatery made me giggle...

I tried quite a few different drinks. This was one of my favourites!

I LOVED this shop window display!

I found my dream car...!
I adore Rob Ryan's work. I thought this was so cute :)
Pretty Dutch napkin. I had a goats cheese and spinach pancake. It was delicious.
I picked these up in H&M. I thought they were an absolute bargain at 3 euros. Garish, perhaps, but I like em!
Some of the other drinks I tried!

I packed the essentials...
I really liked this sign. We went into the Van Gogh exhibition too.
Plenty of Dutch apple cake/coffee breaks were had along the way...
We visited the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum. I found it really interesting. I didn't get a tattoo there but they do have a tattooist on site should you wish to get an extra special souvenir! :)
One of the places we'd read about is Febo. It's basically a fast food vending machine. You put your Euros in and in return receive a little piece of fast food "goodness".
I went for one of these - a "Kaassouffles". It's basically deep fried cheese and it tastes bloody awesome. I could feel my arteries hardening as I ate it! So bad it's good! It reminded me of a Findus Crispy Pancake type thing. I wish we'd had one at the beginning of the holiday as I probably would have just lived off them!
I picked this up in one of the supermarkets before we left. I *think* it's some kind of spread. I liked it because it was blue! I've not tried it yet...
I had a really nice weekend. We fit quite a lot in over the couple of days. The city is a lot busier than I imagined but I enjoyed it! The people all seemed really friendly and helpful too :)
Have you ever been to Amsterdam or would you like to visit?
What did you think?

Tommy Hilfiger Brings Fashion & Charity Together

For the sixth consecutive year, Tommy Hilfiger is partnering with Breast Health International to raise awareness and funds for women who are fighting breast cancer. By creating a limited-edition handbag and donating a percentage of its sales to this wonderful cause, Tommy Hilfiger brings charity and fashion together.
This year, Tommy Hilfiger partnered with Hollywood actress, screenwriter and producer Drew Barrymore to photograph this year’s BHI ambassador, the Anglo-French singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg.
€ 100,00 from the sale of each limited-edition TH handbag will be directly donated to the Fund for Living, a global BHI initiative that provides assistance to women with breast cancer and their families by covering costs that may not be covered by traditional health insurance programs.

Halloween - Day of the Dead Skull Face Paint ☠

This weekend my Mum is going to a Halloween themed wedding.
People are dressing up for it and she asked if I would paint her face for her like a Mexican Day of the Dead Skull. I love skulls (here are my own sugar skull tattoos!) so couldn't wait to have a go myself.
I ordered some Snazaroo face paints from ebay (they were an absolute steal too - hooray!) which arrived a couple of days ago and tried them out immediately!
This was my first attempt at a sugar skull on myself to practise ☠
Here's a step by step of what I did.... have got a couple of Halloween themed competitions on at the moment that you might be interested in...
Epic Pumpkin
Carving a pumpkin? Then you can be in with a chance of winning a Party Hamper worth £100!
We’re looking for the weirdest, wackiest and EPIC pumpkins around the UK. All you have to do to enter is take a picture of your #EpicPumpkin (or you can use pictures of your pumpkins from previous years) and email it to us at with #EpicPumpkin in the subject line.
You’ll be able to view your entry on our Pinterest board and we’ll also be featuring a Pumpkin of the Day on our Facebook account. You can find out more about this competition here.
(Here is my pumpkin I carved last year. I haven't decided what I'm going to do this year - any suggestions?)
Homemade Halloween
We’re challenging people to make the best Halloween costumes for as little money as possible this year, as we’re all about feeling epic and saving money.
If you’re planning on making any Halloween costumes (or even if you’ve made any in previous years), simply write a blog post about it and tell us how you’ve made it and how much it cost you overall.
We’re looking for the spookiest, most believable outfits that have cost the least to put together. A PS3, Blu-Ray DVDs, and a Nintendo 3DS are just some of the fantastic prizes up for grabs!
For more information on how to enter Homemade Halloween, take a look at this page.
I've entered my pumpkin into the competition and think I'll be entering my sugar skull face too - hooray for face paints from ebay!
Will you be entering?
Have you got any plans for Halloween? ☠

Rocket Dog Winter Boots

Rocket Dog never fail to impress me with their creations and their new winter boots are just fab!

My winter boots have just bitten the dust so I'm after something new to get me through the chilly winter months. Here are a few of their items that I'm lusting after...

I love how these look both sturdy and feminine with the fur detailing. I have my eyes set on these for trips away in the winter :)
I had a pair of these that lasted me for YEARS! They were absolutely brilliant. I'd love to get a replacement pair. They are so cosy when it's cold and they don't get wet unlike some similar styles, so ideal when it snows!
These are just gorgeous! I love the colour and the velvet too. The ribbon laces are just perfect!

These would look awesome with thick tights and a dress.

What are your favourite Rocket Dog boots?
