OOTD & Bullring Bloggers Event featuring Urban Decay & Tatty Devine July 2014

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Bullring Bloggers event in Birmingham.

This is what I wore...
Leopard Print Headscarf: Fred Perry
Dinosaur Necklace: Tatty Devine
Jumpsuit: Clothing at Tesco
Peep Toe Pumps: H&M
There were loads of brands at the event that we had the opportunity to have a chat with and some lovely treats for us to nibble on.

We got talking to the lovely Jack from Urban Decay and he offered to show me how to do a smokey eye using the Naked Palette (which, I am now realising what all the hype is about!)

I'm always a bit too "safe" when it comes to my make up and the most daring I get is a bright lipstick. I worry that I'll make a mess of my eye make up!
Jacks top tip: BLEND BLEND BLEND!

Go follow him on Instagram to see some more of his handiwork. I have total brow envy!
I was over the moon with my eye make up. I'll definitely be giving it a go myself at some point.
Best. Present. Ever.

I was given this absolutely awesome necklace made by Tatty Devine. I am in love with it!

I had a fab time. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces that I'd not seen in a while including Sunny, Emma & Sarah.

Thank you again to Emma and the Bullring for a lovely event

You can see more of my photos of the event over on my Instagram

OOTD featuring House of Fraser

I start my new job on Monday and have suddenly realised that my "work" wardrobe is a little lacking.

I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to update it but at the same time wanted to find items that I would be happy wearing out of work too.

I had a look in the usual places I tend to go but was pleasantly surprised to find what a wide selection of clothing that House of Fraser offers.
I think my perception was that they tend to offer high end brands which is great for special occasions but on closer inspection they offer a wide range of more affordable items too.

I found this Yumi dress in their sale for around £20. It's very me but can be dressed up or down. Perfect for the office or going out after work!
I love the lace detailing on the dress too!

Have you bought clothing from House of Fraser before? Any bargains?

OOTD featuring Kate Spade... ♤

A little bit of a different OOTD from me. Clare does smart. Yep. It's possible.

I bought this dress in Ted Baker in the sale when I was on the hunt for a black dress with 3/4 sleeves.

I was on the verge of giving up (apparently Summer isn't the time to be looking for black dresses. With long sleeves...) but found this and it was exactly what I was after!

Whilst trying to look smart it seemed like a good idea to update my phone cover too.

Anyone who knows me has probably seen my array of phone covers ranging from a 3D Hello Kitty through to my most recent BMO from Adventure Time case...
 Headscarf: Fred Perry
Glasses: Ray Ban
Suit Dress: Ted Baker
Heels: Bertie
 iPhone 5C Case: Kate Spade

I thought that the case matches my Ray Ban glasses pretty well! It's a subtle print, but still fun looking.
I love how you can still see the brightness of the phone through the case rather than covering it up!
I wasn't really too familiar with the brand up until now but have spotted some amazing handbags by Kate Spade which I am now lusting over!

What phone case do you have?

Tatty Devine Dinosaur Necklace

Last week I went out for dinner in Sheffield. This is what I wore...
Leopard Print Headscarf: Fred Perry
Maxi Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Polka Dot Pumps: Vans
Dinosaur Necklace: Tatty Devine

I have been lusting after this for ages and when I saw that they had a discount on their statement necklaces I finally gave in. I LOVE it!
I went & had my nails done at Sweta Vajir in Meadowhall this week. I've never had Shellac nails before but I am totally in awe of them!

The lady who did them was super nice and I would highly recommend a visit! They also offer other treatments including threading.

I always end up with chips usually within moments of my nails drying. These are still looking great even with me being a total doofus. Such a pretty colour too & perfect for a wedding I'm going to.

Update 09/06/14: The nails have now lasted chip-free for two weeks, not bad going at all!

It's Ladies night tomorrow at Meadowhall, click here more information and to register!

The Botanist, Leeds - Review

I was recently contacted to see if I would like to check out the Botanist in Leeds. I'd been in a month or two back for a quick drink and while we were in we had noticed how good the food that was being served looked, so I was excited to check it out for myself!

We got the train over from Sheffield after work last Monday and so it was something to look forward to that evening.
We'd both had a quick look online at the menus - I'm glad I did as there is so much to choose from!

I am notoriously indecisive AND a picky eater, so if I find somewhere that I like the look of more than one item on the menu, I'm happy!

Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. We decided that we'd like to try the cocktails on offer and so ordered "The Botanist" and an "English Mojito" on Dan's recommendation. We were not disappointed!
The English Mojito is pretty much my dream cocktail. Gin, mint, elderflower and cucumber. Refreshing, sweet and gin-y! Stef's "Botanist" was equally as good and pretty boozy!
For my starter I chose the Welsh Rarebit Fondue (which came served with celery, crusty bread and spring onions) and Stef chose the Moules Marinieres served with crusty bread.
What can I say! I bloody loved mine. The fondue was gooey and cheesy and magnificent. I could have quite happily eaten it as a main as there was so much! It would be perfect to share if you've got a smaller appetite (or like to leave room for dessert, like myself!)
Stef enjoyed his mussels too! He said he would also have quite happily had this as a main course if he wasn't feeling so hungry.

For my main I had the rib-eye steak and Stef chose the hanging chicken kebab.
The rib-eye was melt in your mouth and juicy perfection.

I am not a big meat eater at all but will have it from time to time and usually end up dissecting it. This was not the case as it was so lean and there was minimal fat on it.

The garlic butter was a welcome addition to the steak. I'm not big on sauces with steaks, the simpler the better for me and this really hit the spot.

The fries that were served with the steak were delicious too and well seasoned.
I tried a mouthful of Stef's chicken kebab and it was very tasty and moist. It came with a sweet chilli and garlic sauce. I loved the way that it was served too.
We were both pretty stuffed part way through our mains but decided that we should try one of the desserts as they sounded so tasty, and that they were!

We chose the banana and coconut kebab to share which came served with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. It was absolutely delicious.

There was another 'kebab' dessert on offer which is served with Sailor Jerry chocolate sauce... I think there will definitely be a repeat visit just so I can try that!
We really enjoyed the overall atmosphere and decor to the Botanist. There was a guy playing piano while we were there which was a nice touch too.

The service was spot on too. Our waiter was attentive, informative and enthusiastic (but not annoyingly so!). I like it when you go somewhere for food and the person serving you actually knows what they're talking about!

The Botanist has a nice laid back vibe, and would be perfect for after work drinks and dinner.

We will definitely be returning very soon!

For more information about the Botanist you can visit their website here or like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter!
